The Ministry of Economy and Industry extends the deadline for registering employees when joining and renewing membership in chambers of commerce.

The Ministry of Economy and Industry extends the deadline for registering employees when joining and renewing membership in chambers of commerce.

The Ministry of Economy and Industry of the Syrian Arab Republic issued an official letter to the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Commerce, containing a decision to extend the deadline for verifying the number of employees registered with social security, a requirement for membership or annual renewal in the chambers of commerce and joint chambers of commerce and industry in the governorates.

According to the letter dated May 20, 2025, the Ministry clarified that the extension will be for an additional six months, starting from the beginning of 2026. This decision is based on the recommendations of the committee formed under Resolution No. 3817, dated July 24, 2025, which completed its work by studying and reviewing the provisions of Law No. 8 of 2020 concerning chambers of commerce and joint chambers of commerce and industry.

This measure comes within the framework of the Ministry of Economy and Industry's efforts to develop legislation and regulations governing the business environment and to simplify membership and renewal procedures, in line with the requirements of the current economic situation and to support commercial and industrial activity.

The Ministry affirmed that the purpose of this extension is to alleviate procedural burdens on merchants and industrialists, not to exempt them from complying with the provisions of the applicable social security laws and regulations.  Registering employees with the General Organization for Social Security remains a separate legal obligation.

This decision is expected to facilitate membership and annual renewal procedures in the chambers of commerce, granting economic entities additional time to address their administrative matters, thereby supporting business continuity and enhancing institutional stability during the coming period.
